A free MacroFactor alternative with training in the same app

Flawless is a food diary and a set-by-set workout log in one app, both free and without ads. MacroFactor sells the same two things as two apps, each paid after a trial. If the adaptive calorie target is why you chose MacroFactor, Flawless has one too, in PRO.

We make Flawless, so read this with that in mind. Every claim about MacroFactor links to MacroFactor’s own pages, and every claim about Flawless was checked against the app itself.

Why people look for an alternative to MacroFactor

MacroFactor’s food side is excellent, and that is not the problem. The two reasons people look elsewhere are on its own pages. First, there is no free version: both MacroFactor Nutrition and MacroFactor Workouts start with a free trial and then need a subscription (Nutrition, Workouts). Second, training and food are two apps. In MacroFactor’s own words they “operate as separate apps” and “do not automatically adjust training based on nutrition data, or nutrition targets based on training data”; what they share is body weight, measurements and period data (help centre). You subscribe to each on its own or to both as a bundle (subscriptions).

Flawless keeps both logs in one app, free, without ads and without a trial clock. The food diary and the set-by-set workout log stay free for as long as you use them; PRO is optional.

What PRO adds

The yearly PRO plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Every formula behind the numbers is published on How we count.

04

The adaptive calorie target, compared

MacroFactor is built around an adaptive target: its Nutrition app “finds your true caloric burn and auto-adjusts your macro plan every week” (features). If that is why you chose MacroFactor, here is exactly what Flawless does and does not do.

In the free version, Flawless sets your calorie and macro targets from your profile (weight, height, age, activity and goal) with published formulas, Mifflin–St Jeor among them, and the targets move when you update your weight or your goal. The adaptive target is in PRO: the app estimates your real energy expenditure from the food you logged and your weight trend (a linear fit over at least four weigh-ins, counting only fully logged days), shows it only once the estimate is precise enough, and applies it as your new calorie and macro target with one tap. The method is on How we count.

MacroFactor adjusts every week whether you ask or not; Flawless waits for enough data and for your tap. If a weekly adjustment is the whole point for you, MacroFactor does that better.

07

When MacroFactor is the better choice

If the weekly adaptive target is the one thing you want and you are happy to pay for it, MacroFactor Nutrition is built around exactly that, and MacroFactor Workouts gives you a detailed log from the same company. The same goes if you lift in pounds or tag drop and myo sets.

If you want food and training in one place, free, with a watch app on both Apple Watch and Wear OS, try Flawless next to it for a week.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to MacroFactor?

Yes. Flawless logs food by barcode, search, photo and voice and workouts set by set in one app, both free, without ads and without a trial clock. The adaptive calorie target is in PRO.

Does MacroFactor have a free version?

No. Both MacroFactor Nutrition and MacroFactor Workouts start with a free trial and then need a subscription, according to their App Store listings (checked October 2026).

Does MacroFactor track workouts?

Yes, in a separate app called MacroFactor Workouts. MacroFactor’s help centre says the Workouts and Nutrition apps operate separately and share body weight, measurements and period data, and do not adjust each other.

Does Flawless have an adaptive calorie target like MacroFactor?

Yes, in PRO. Flawless estimates your real energy expenditure from the food you logged and your weight trend, shows it once the estimate is precise enough, and applies it as your new target with one tap. The free version sets targets from published formulas.

Can I import my MacroFactor data into Flawless?

Not yet. Flawless imports workouts from Hevy and Strong and meal totals from MyFitnessPal; there is no MacroFactor import.

Does Flawless work on Wear OS?

Yes. The Wear OS app is free: log sets with weight and reps, use the rest timer, see your heart rate and today’s calories. MacroFactor said in September 2026 that its Wear OS app is planned.
