The best calorie and macro tracker apps in 2026

MyFitnessPal, MacroFactor and Cronometer are the names most people meet first. We compared them with Flawless on the questions that decide everyday use: what is free, how you log a meal, whether the app adjusts your target, and whether it also handles your training.

We make Flawless, so read this with that in mind. That is why every claim about the other apps comes from their own websites, checked on 25 September 2026, with links so you can verify it. Prices are left out: they differ by country and change.

The four apps in short

MyFitnessPal

The best-known food diary, with a big food database and community. On its own Premium page, barcode scanning, Meal Scan photo logging, voice logging, macro goals by day and ad-free logging are all Premium. It tracks exercise, but not as a set-by-set training log.

MacroFactor

The strongest pick if an adaptive calorie target is what you are after: it updates your calorie and macro targets every week from your progress. Logging is fast, with barcode, label scanning and AI photo recognition. There is no free version, only a 7-day trial, and workouts are a separate app, MacroFactor Workouts.

Cronometer

The micronutrient specialist. The free version scans barcodes and tracks up to 84 nutrients against a database of lab-analysed and verified foods, with ads. Gold adds photo and voice logging, an AI coach and a fasting timer.

Flawless

A food log and a full workout log in one app, free and without ads. Log by barcode, text, photo or voice from 6M+ foods; calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre are measured against targets from published formulas (how we count). PRO adds the adaptive calorie target, detailed micronutrients and an AI coach that reads your food and training together. It is the newest of the four and does not go as deep on micronutrients as Cronometer.
